  This condo is by far one of best places to stay at The Sea Ranch. The view is perfect... 5 stars. The lower bedroom has a spectacular view of the ocean and the brightest shining stars and moon you've ever seen at night. You have a full window from floor to ceiling just 3 feet from you as you fall asleep. You have the same full window view of the ocean in your living area also. The bed is very cozy and super comfy. The is no TV, no radio or CD player but I had the best entertainment I have ever had at any vacation home I've ever stayed at. The view of the ocean waves crashing up against the rocks right in front of you, the seals, the whales, the shorebirds and the beautiful ocean are all 5 stars. In the evening you can relax in front of your warm cozy fire. All the cut wood you need is right there for you. You have your own private patio right out the front door or the sliding door of your bedroom.
  The kitchen has most everything you need. Or it's a very short walk up the shady hill to lodge where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. The only real downside is the large Funiture that takes up your living space. It's easily moved around though. The peaceful quite location and the beautiful view will make this one of your most memorable vacations ever. 5 STARS!

  This is the second time we’ve stayed at Moore Condo #9 and could not have been more delighted. The space is charming, with impressive views of the ocean, and close enough to hear the sound of waves crashing the rocks. The decor has retained much of the original artwork and furniture, which is a dream stay for architecture and design enthusiasts. The unit has two bathrooms, a full kitchen with a fantastic oven, and easy to use fireplace, as well as ample spots to relax. Perfect for a couple, though you could likely fit 3 or 4 if needed. The design of the space makes it easy to want to spend your entire stay inside, but there are beautiful trails right outside as well as the newly remodeled Sea Ranch Lodge that can’t be missed.

  I had the opportunity to stay at the Charles Moore condo in September 2023. The place is beautifully cared for, with Moore's details and mementos still on display throughout. Being able to stay in a place, both thoughtfully designed, but also carefully preserved to stay true to Moore's playfulness and empathy, was a real treat. This place is INCREDIBLY special, location/view/landscape aside, the home is so unique and personal and the experience is one I won't ever forget. On the last morning, I woke up and spotted whales from the window while laying in bed. All the staff at Sea Ranch Escape were also incredibly kind, generous, and wonderful to work with. A family of wonderful people and having that human experience throughout booking made me feel truly cared for during my stay and beyond. I'm looking forward to coming back again soon!

The unit is well published but you need to live in it to fully appreciate his design ingenuity. How he positioned the complex on the site, the extraordinary connection to the ocean, the whimsical layout of his unit, and the creative details all work together to heighten the experience. I did it with my adult son for a 3 day father-son retreat and it was epic. I'd highly recommend it. We'll be back.

  The condo is incredible and has a window seat overlooking the ocean. If you are an architecture aficionado you might find it particularly interesting as it was Charles Moore's residence for much of the time he was working on homes at sea ranch, and into the end of his life. It's filled with artifacts from his trips, and truly feels like a home rather than a rental. The space is definitely cozy, you don't have a ton of privacy if there are two couples as the rooms are lofted/stacked/separated by a sliding door, but it was perfect for our group, and we enjoyed the rec centers, miles of trails, beaches etc, but really mostly the cabin, which we had no regrets about spending the bulk of our time inside.

  After staying at Moore 9, here are the life lessons that I learned.
  1. Make time to do nothing. The best place to be is accomplishing everything while doing nothing (and it happened at Sea Ranch).
  2. Find what you love and commit to it. Everything else is secondary (this one is borrowed from the late Steve Jobs).
  3. Spend some time in solitude. Sometimes you need personal space. Give other people their personal spaces too.
  4. The more you give, the more you get back. Keep the flow of abundance flowing. Wealth comes in different forms, not just monetary, but also wealth of time, wealth of friendship, wealth of health and energy. (Isn't it funny that wealth and health are spelled so similarly?!?)
  5. Everybody has a method to his/her madness. Be empathetic to others who are not like you. Be kind to yourself and others. Practice non-judgement, and you will realize that other people judge you less.
  
  Do yourself (and your partner or friends) a favor and stay at this place. It will change your life.

  What a fabulous introduction to Sea Ranch! This unit is gloriously sited overlooking the craggy shoreline and Pacific Ocean and is located steps from the Sea Ranch Lodge (which will reopen within the next year).   It's extra historical at this Sea Ranch rental — owned by one of Sea Ranch's original architects. Many of his furnishings and decor still remain. But updated enough to be functional and comfortable. Beware there is no TV or Internet here, but you can walk 2 minutes to the lodge for the latter. We toured most of the 10 miles that is Sea Ranch and couldn't find a better spot than the seaside cove this condo is perched above.

  We love coming and always look forward to and enjoy our February visit. We love the peace and quiet and, especially, the luxurious window seat overlooking the water - could hardly be better! Thank you! That said, if a railing was bolted to the outside of the sliding doors in the eating area they could be opened and air let in; unit is very stuffy. Someone needs to get outside and clean the windows - they were filthy!

  The experience of staying in the Charles Moore Sea Ranch Condo is truly primordial. The location on the edge of a cliff looking out over a rocky cove is dramatic. The sound of swirling water in the cove is omnipresent. The views included wildlife, harbor seals, pelicans even several gray whales. I love the open interior of the condo, the loft bedroom and the amazing exposed framing. Its like being in the hull of a ancient ship.

  A long overdue trip to SR. I learned of the availability of Moore's condo through a presentation made by another of SR's architects, Donlyn Lyndon. The unit is a "one of a kind" experience with great architecture (the interior spaces are extraordinary), nice furnishings and very convenient to the Lodge.   We have been going to Sea Ranch since the mid 80's. This condo was the most unique place we have ever stayed. The view is fantastic. The architecture is unbelievable. What a pleasant surprise to stay in a place with such a significant role in the Sea Ranch development. The guest book is full of comments from guests from all over the world. They come to see and stay in this very unique part of international architectural history. You might want to read about Charles Moore, the architect, before you come. As far as restaurants the lodge has a great one about 150 yards up the road. We chose to eat in a place with one of the best views at Sea Ranch... our condo. Take a couple of fold up chairs to sit in the grass outside to enjoy some wine, the ocean and if you're lucky, a beautiful sunset. Keep an eye out for your neighborly wildlife friends... the shy and elusive bobcats, deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, seals,a wide verity of birds, hawks, sea birds and waterfowl. At the right time of year you will see plenty of whales on their migration south or north. I highly recommend Moore 9 to all. The staff are all 5 star.

  Don't go to Moore#9 because I'd like there to be availability in the future vs. booked months in advance. One of the most breathtaking views and whimsically yet deeply spirited places I've ever stayed. I wouldn't recommend it - really - because then you'll want to keep going back too. The only thing I would recommend if you like to cook is to bring your own kitchen knives - kitchen appliances and amenities are old. A few spiders here and there as well - but all that just melts away in the aura of what Moore #9 offers.

  all was basically well and i love the moore#9. this time, more than ever befor, i was a bit surprised about all the spiderwebs, on top of the sunshades. there were lots and heavy spiderwebs!!! also, in comparison to the beach house, the ktichen equipment ist poor. particularly the dishes are not great. there are not even real wine glasses. the beach house was great in that respect. there we could not get the grill started. but over all it was great.

  Moore9 is a well preserved gem if you are into eclectic artist whimsy, and amazing views. Might not be the most comfortable sleeping arrangements but makes up for it in style. If I were going again I would call ahead and make sure they clean the windows. You’re paying for that amazing view (we watched seals and a whale from the living room) and there’s no excuse to not keep it clean for every new guest.

  We loved the condo in terms of location and the way in which it reflects the personality of former owner Charles Moore. However, the property management/rental company and owner need to be more attentive to cleanliness. We found a considerable amount of dust throughout the house. Granted, it does get dusty very quickly here. But we're talking about "dust bunnies" in places that should have been clean--obviously these had been accumulating for some time. The area around the fireplace was soiled with an accumulation of ashes, and there were ashes on top of the fireplace. It appeared that previous users had not cleaned up after themselves. Additionally,the shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom was nasty and unsanitary. The bottom of the curtain was speckled with mold and had turned pink from mold/mildew. Duvet and pillow covers needed to be laundered (dirty spots), as did some of the dish towels/placemats that were in the cupboards. We chose to do our own cleaning and were charged a small amount for things that did not pass inspection. The rental company provided a copy of the inspection report at our request, and some of the comments were just flat untrue. One example: inspector said rug had not been vacuumed. I had watched as my friend vacuumed. Ironically, the inspector even stated that the "owner vacuum is not so good either." If the vacuum "isn't so good," could that be why it appeared that the rug hadn't been vacuumed?? All in all we love this place, but had to relax our cleanliness standards during our stay.
