  We rented Pelican’s Rest on the westside of Sea Ranch through Sea Ranch Escape. The house was fabulous and roomy with great ocean views, super well appointed kitchen, luxurious jacuzzi tubs upstairs and downstairs, internet, and plenty of games and puzzles. We swam and took a sauna at Ohlson Rec Center each morning. We shopped in Gualala for our food and did a bit of browsing at a few gift shops.
  
  Sea Ranch Escape staff (Cara) was very helpful and the rental process went very smoothly. I recommend them for Sea Ranch Rentals, especially Pelican’s Rest.

There are lovely views from both floors, with big windows in the primary bedrooms. The house occupies a good setting close to the bluff trail. The upstairs common area was great. The downstairs layout was a bit awkward, but all the bedrooms were nice, although some in the group found the beds uncomfortable.

  We loved our stay here and the kitchen was one of the most well equipped kitchens I have ever rented. In addition to having every possible tool you could desire, there were beautiful ceramics to enjoy as well! Two small improvements: the nails along the threshold from the carpet to the wood floor in the dining room were very sharp and we stepped on them a few times. The hot tub was only hot on the first night despite keeping the heat on high and covering it tightly. Overall so peaceful and serene. Thank you!

  We had a marvelous time at Pelican's Rest in our "annual trek" to The Sea Ranch. While there is so much to offer from a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath house, our favorite has to be the gourmet kitchen. We brought our own Coho Salmon, pan seared rib eye steaks, and I even made fresh pasta one night. The kitchen is definitely a cook's delight. The house has plenty of room which allows for close friends to visit and enjoy. The Pelican's Rest is conveniently situated between marine preserves both to the north and south, and within walking distance of the Del Mar Rec center and Walk-On Beach. Some of our travel highlights included a day to travel to Big River (near Mendocino) to kayak the sea caves, wine tasting in Anderson Valley and Sonoma, horse back riding with Ross Ranch on Manchester Beach and visiting our animal friends at the B. Bryan Preserve in Point Arena. It always a peaceful and relaxing time and we never want to leave.

  My wife and I desperately needed a vacation. With the pandemic in full swing we turned to our old standby, Sea Ranch escapes. We wanted a 1 or 2 bedroom place for the two of us but Pelican's Rest was the only house available so we took it and invited some of our pandemic bubble friends to join us. Pelican's Rest was perfect for the four of us especially with two master suites!
  
  The views were incredible and we loved the proximity to the beach and trails. The house was very organized and well-stocked. We loved cooking in the large kitchen with nice appliances, cookware and dishes. The collection of CDs provided just the right music for relaxation. We loved our time here and would recommend it for either two couples or any large group.

  We've been coming to The Sea Ranch for 29 years! This is one of the best homes we've stayed in. We loved the large kitchen and island. It was well stocked and loved the gas range and two ovens! The two living spaces and 4 bedrooms with no adjoining walls and 3 1/2 baths gave everyone private space. It was just a short walk to the bluff trails and a short walk to Walk on Beach.   My wife and I, along with another couple, returned to Pelican's Rest for a 3 day refresh. We had stayed there in November and loved it. It was even better the second time around. It was like coming home. Two master bedroom suites are perfect for two couples. The view is wonderful even with not being directly on the coast, and you can be on the coast trail in just a couple of minutes. The kitchen is wonderful, there is everything there that you need. It was perfect since there were no restaurants available due to the pandemic. I highly recommend it and will stay there again if it's available.

  We continue to come back to Sea Ranch and continue to use Sea Ranch Escape because of the overall great experiences. This particular home was all that was advertised - location, comfort, amenities, etc. However, there were a few inconveniences or oversights that, although not compromising the enjoyment of our stay, should be addressed for future guests. These are: (1) provide 2 sets of towels not just one; (2) provide more toilet paper; (3) replace burned out lights (garage & kitchen); (4) fix the automatic garage door opener - it locks up sometimes - i.e. it opens 1 foot and stops; and finally (5) it takes way too long for the hot water to get to the shower and even the kitchen - what a waste of water!

  Pelican's rest was everything we hoped for. It was spacious enough for the six of us to have privacy, while also enjoying a large common area upstairs with a great view of the sea. The kitchen was spacious enough for all six of us to work together making meals, and it included every plate, glass, bowl, and utensil we needed. Needless to say, the physical environment of Sea Ranch was beautiful, a perfect environment for leisurely walks along the cliff trail or runs. There was nothing we would change.

  Beautiful house with a good layout, well-stocked and designed kitchen, plenty of room to enjoy the lovely views. Great for a group. We've stayed here twice now and plan on coming back if we can! I appreciate the fresh flowers and thoughtful decorations. The house is well taken care of and very clean. My only suggestion is to provide a better vacuum cleaner. We opted to get housekeeping this year since last year we couldn't really clean the floors very well last year, which resulted in additional costs we didn't anticipate.

  We have been coming to Sea Ranch for many years. We were very happy with the location and layout of the house. It worked so well for a group of 6. Our only disappointment was the size of the hot tub. The house has a 2 person hot tub, so not everyone could use the hot tub at once. However, everything else was fantastic. The house has one of the best equipped kitchens of any house we rented so we made some wonderful family meals. We will definitely rent this house again.

  This is our second time at Pelican's rest and we noticed the significant improvements in kitchenware. We are big on preparing our own meals and this kitchen is probably, by far, the best equipped of any we've stayed at at Sea Ranch in the last 25 years. One item that would have been nice is an electric hand mixer - though only two dishes needed it. We would easily choose to come back to Pelican's Rest in the future.

  This was a getaway for a group of men who like to cook. Our stay was perfect: the kitchen is large, conveniently arranged, and extremely well equipped. The arrangement of the house is perfect, with 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, for a group of friends. It would also be great for two or three couples, because of the two master suites; and even the third bedroom has a wonderful view and bath.

  We enjoyed everything about this lovely home. The floor plan is so comfortable and livable. Wonderful to finally find a home with two identical master bedrooms so that two couples can share the home equally! Plenty of space upstairs and down for more people to share the home, (we were just two couples). As mentioned in other reviews, this is the best stocked kitchen of any vacation rental we've ever seen. We really enjoyed cooking almost all our meals here. Having an upper deck to enjoy the view is wonderful, also. We'll be back! After 40 years of visiting, we still love The Sea Ranch!

  Pelican Rest is a very nice house with beatiful views. Loved the location and a nice home for eight people. Had a problem with one of the bathroom valves and plumbers weren't available so that affected our enjoyment. The hot tub was also disappointing because it was old and slow to adjust temperature. Despite this problems it's was a nice stay.

  The Pelican House is a bit dated inside but comfortable. The kitchen was better equipped than almost any other house we've rented. Living room furniture was center around a TV not the view! Patio furniture was not very good. We miss having a grill. Lots of stairs in this house.

  This house was in a great location and had the best equipped kitchen we have ever had—better than at home! It worked very well for our three main guests—two additional guests for two of our nights had less desirable rooms and beds—the twin bedS are really for young children. The hot tub was small and not adequate for the large house that sleeps six. We had issues with the gas fireplace and some of the sinks and faucets. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay very much and would rent the house again because of the open floor plan upstairs and lovely views with plenty of privacy. And, again, the kitchen is great if you are into cooking!

  We have stayed at this home multiple times over the last 10 years. It’s in a great location with access to the trail just across the street. The house is large with two master bedrooms and a big, open kitchen. It does need some maintenance and updating, though. There were cobwebs inside and out, and the windows were very dirty. The owners could stand to update the great room furniture. The couch and chair are the same ones that were there 10 years ago and need replacing.

  This property was great overall but needs to get internet access. I liked the house but would not rent again because of this. I did know up front so that is no ones fault but we found we wanted it after we got there.

I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a great getaway.   A lovely home for a family getaway with so many superlatives await your stay. If he radiant flooring doesn't entice you perhaps the two master suites whirlpool tubs along with an outdoor hot tub overlooking the pacific ocean would suffice. My significant other loves the gourmet kitchen and we all benefited from that. There was a bit of mold in one corner of the kitchen ceiling that needed attending and ample linens should be included in the agreement for certain however the overwhelming feeling was of great enjoyment and value.
