  This is a great 3-bedroom place where you can sit in an easy chair and watch the waves. This was our third time staying there. Added bonus -- it has a movie room with a large screen to watch TV or Netflix stuff. Only negative is that the temp markings on the stove have rubbed off so it's hit or miss on how hot the element is. Really trivial in the scheme of things but needs fixing

  We had a fantastic weekend at the Summer Wind house. The overlook directly outside of this home is one of the most breathtaking stretches of the coast I've ever seen. We were mesmerized. The home is very comfortably appointed, and we appreciated that the furniture and decor was streamlined and minimal. Not lots of clutter around so we could truly feel the serenity of the environment.

  We have stayed at Summer Wind many times over the years--many Christmases and New Years when the kids were younger. The house has an efficient layout with fabulous views of Galleons Point. Loved watching the sunsets every evening. Even though the house is very close to the path, you do not feel like you are on display when in the hot tub because it's raised up and protected. Another highlight of this house is the theater room. It's so comfortable and has great sound--makes the house special, especially in winter with the shorter days and potential for rainy weather. We will be back.

  Summerwind is a three-bedroom Sea Ranch house with picture-window ocean views. Well-equipped including a movie room (with four complex remotes to make the projector work). Idyllic weather in mid-October. Unfortunately the Lodge restaurant isn't open, but it will be. It's close to many trails, and tennis/swimming recreation center in walking distance, but the two of us hunkered down, listening to music, reading, and getting sane

  Summer Wind is terrific. Very spacious, though we were only two people. The view out of big picture windows is marvellous. It was a cloudy/smoky time so we spent much time reading in nice chairs looking out. A unique feature is a movie room -- with a projected video that shows TV on a large screen. The only negative is that there are four remotes to make everything work and you need an engineering degree to figure it out (or in this case consultation from the management's "fixer" Kitchen is nice. The bed in the main bedroom is terrific.

  I’ve stayed at Sea Ranch many times, but this was the first visit to Summer Wind. I hosted my son and his fiancé and two friends. It was ideal to have a house where each bedroom had its own bath. The house was light and airy and the view was fantastic. The kitchen was fairly well appointed, but there could be more ice cube trays, as the ice maker didn’t work. I read about the lack of ice cube trays in a review and was glad I brought a couple of my own. The hot tub wasn’t working properly when we arrived, but that was resolved by the next day. I appreciated the prompt attention from the property managers. The only downside to this location, is that it doesn’t allow for a long walk to the south, but that is a minor point. I would definitely stay at this house again. This was a first visit to Sea Ranch for my son and his fiancé and they had a wonderful time.

  We stayed in Summer Wind for the 3rd time in October. First 5 days were magnificently sunny. Last 2 days the big rains came. The house looks right out on the ocean; the living room has comfortable chairs that swivel so that we could read and look out to watch the soothing surf. There were only two of us in this 3-bedroom house, which includes a movie room with a big screen to watch movies or TV (including Netflix and Amazon). The house is right in front of the cliff walking trails and not far from the Lodge with a terrific new dining room start-up. We'll be back. Sea Ranch Escape was responsive on a Sunday when the coffee maker didn't work; they delivered another within hours.

  This is a wonderful home with fantastic views from the large windows in the living area. Comfortable chairs for whale watching. The kitchen is adequate, would prefer some newer frying pans. The deck was small and with only two chairs not easy to accommodate 4 adults. Also would be nice if there was a small table on the deck. We had a problem with a leaky faucet, and property management sent someone out promptly only to turn off the cold water. We had other bathrooms to use so not a big problem.
  The media room is amazing if you can figure out how to navigate all the remotes, etc. Apparently the device was missing a cable and again property management sent someone right away. We were very pleased with this home.

  The layout of this house was perfect for our party of 5. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and is spacious to easily accommodate two people. The great room provided a wonderful place to puzzle, to read, to stare at the ocean, to eat and drink and be together. We loved early morning and late night hot tubs and the fantastic movie room (splurge for this!). Sea Ranch Escapes was incredible from booking to picking up keys -- I highly recommend their services. All in all, this is one of our favorite Sea Ranch homes ever. We can't wait to go back!

  Summer Wind is our favorite.
  
  The walk north along the coast is quite good footing and the sound of the ocean amazing. We usually crack our bedroom door at night to hear it even better.
  
  One time we were there during whale migration season and the offshore area is one of the whales rest stops to our great surprise and enjoyment.
  
  For us, the movie room is a big plus. We usually rent a number of DVDs from our local library ahead of time.

  We rented the house for a group of family members to stay for a wedding taking place at the lodge. There were two children and four adults at various points. The grounds and the house are lovely. The views in the living room are incredible and the set up of the house and its proximity to the lodge are ideal.

  We loved this place and will definitely rent here again. Our family of 4 enjoyed the space and the amazing view of the ocean. Location was great. We took walks every day but I think the kids liked the hot tub the best. Unfortunately there was way too much chlorine in it and it triggered my daughter's eczema but we got a few days of relaxing in it before we had to stop. The kids also enjoyed the media room for evening movies - remember to bring your own DVDs though as there are only a few to select from and there was no satellite/cable service for that room. All in all, a wonderful and relaxing stay and we are hoping to return.

  The house is in a very beautiful setting. Sleeping and waking to the sound of the ocean is marvelous. The theater wins hands down.
  
  The thing I found disconcerting was there were no safety grab bars in the showers. That creates a real fall risk.
  
  The floor in the pantry was very sticky, so needed to be cleaned better. There were cobwebs in the window in bedroom #3.

We loved the location along the bluff with that fantastic view. There was one neighboring house but we felt private. We arrived late but keys and info. packet was available at the nearby office lock box. Very spacious interior living/kitchen/dining areas with large glass. Wish more windows were operable to hear the ocean, only one small window opened, near dining area. Web site description is accurate and house was clean and well maintained (light bulbs over cook top needed cleaning-badly). Even though the only deck area (at hot tub) is rather small, there were not enough chairs for our four people. We were disappointed that the Sea Ranch lodge was closed, apparently being renovated under new ownership, as they had a very nice restaurant there. Otherwise, shopping and restaurants are available in nearby Gualala, 15 min. north. The house also has a home theater room,(extra fee) nicely set up but difficult to navigate the controls, at least for our 65+ group. A wood burning fireplace had plenty of wood and kindling, used a couple of times as it was foggy and cool. We would highly recommend.

Although the interior of the home is beautiful, we spent most of our time on the deck and in the hot tub unless we were cooking or sleeping. We did not rent the movie room and we are glad we didn't. We spent little time indoors. And the access to the bluff top trail was nice for morning runs and hiking. We would definitely go back.

  We spent 4 days in this house during the Summer. The weather was great even with some fog. We enjoyed the coastal views and breeze along with the wildlife(deer, bobcat,birds, harbor seals,etc). We were also able to go on walks and runs on the trails which are really accessible from this property. The house is comfortable & clean with high ceilings and large windows so you can enjoy the views and get plenty of light in (but you can close the shades if you want too). The appliances are top of the line, there are plenty of plates & cutlery along with a variety of mixing bowls, pots, skillets, frying pans, etc. We basically brought some of our own groceries and we bought some at Gualala so we didn't need to eat out at all. The hot tub views are amazing too!
  We enjoyed this home greatly and we hope to be back soon!

Livingroom is easily converted from watching the waves, to watching TV, or family discussions.   Probably best equipped kitchen we've ever had (maybe 15 Sea Ranch rentals over 25 years).
  We had whales less that 1000 feet offshore on one day! (We learned that it is only in Spring when migrating North they come so close; further out for Southern migration).
  Movie room instructions need some updating but is really great - bring your own DVDs!
  Sea Ranch lodge is about a 20 minute walk away for a dinner and sunset stroll on return.
  Stove is an electric radiant which we had not used before so study up a bit beforehand if you have not used one. We suggested a 'Radiant Cooking for Dummies' book be left there.

  This is the 3rd time we've rented Summer Wind; the last time was 4 years ago. THIS TIME, the kitchen was VERY understocked, missing items that nearly all houses (in my 40 years of renting at SR)--baking sheets, trivets, a lack of many condiments except for salt and pepper(e.g.)only a few sugar packets. There were no matches nor a working igniter in the house. Only one reading lamp in living space and IT DIDN'T WORK NOR DID NEW BULBS FIX IT.

    Hi Cliff, We are happy you enjoyed the home and location. We are sorry you were disappointed with The Sea Ranch Lodge being closed and the fact we did not verbally notify you. We did email you a restaurant list with your reservation reminder and the list does say The Sea Ranch Lodge is closed. If we are asked a question about anything new in the area or restaurant recommendations we are more than happy to help; however, if we are not asked we are not in the habit of offering the information to our guests.   Second visit to this home. Love the art and great location. Good home for two couples and a kid or two. Third bedroom has an open wall which makes it less private. Living room chairs need recovering or repair. Kitchen is unusually well stocked with utensils and cookware. Management company is the best at Sea Ranch area.

  The house was stunning and well appointed. And the movie theater was awesome! The only nit picky thing was that there wasn't a BBQ. It wasn't advertised as having one, but we had gotten some nice steaks to grill the first night we were there and then wandered around trying to find it. Otherwise a beautiful spot and great house!
